A well-designed and produced Document Folder is an ideal way of presenting information.
Document Folders with leaflets will form a brochure or information resource that can be readily varied and updated.
We will produce you a carefully printed and finished item at a competitive price.

Setting up Document Folders

Considerations
Is the folder to have capacity or not?

If it is to hold in excess of 20 sheets, booklets or samples it will need some, 3mm is about the smallest and around 15mm the largest practical amount. Bear in mind that 3mm is about the smallest practical depth that can be folded on materials of 300g and below, above 300g 5mm is the smallest.

How deep do you want the flap, is it to be glued and folded or tucked in dry? The glued type will need to be folded and glued by us, there is cost to this and they are bulky to store. Dry tuck on the other hand can be folded and tucked in as they are sent out, cheaper and easier to store.

Special Finishes
Any folder we print on gloss or matt-coated paper will be given a gloss or silk emulsion seal as standard. For an enhanced finish and improved durability gloss or matt film can be laminated over the printed surfaces. Special areas can be picked out with high gloss UV varnish.

Setting up artwork
Set up one document to the extremities of the job to include all elements and glue flaps.

To fit on standard paper sizes the flat area needs to be no more than 422x630mm for SRA2 paper and 492x710mm for the larger B2 paper size (sizes exclude crop marks).

Glue flaps should be 15mm wide (13mm minimum) to accommodate glue bands and should be kept free of print; glue does not adhere as effectively to a printed surface.

If you are not using one of our standard cutters you will need to create a cutter guide as part of your artwork. This guide will need to be accurate and to a workable design as we will use it to manufacture the cutting die. We recommend that you always make a mock-up so you can see exactly how your design works in practice. Extra costs will be incurred if it needs to be remade or changed due to an oversight.

If you are producing your own cutter guide you can create it in Quark, Illustrator or Freehand etc. It must have a continuous solid 1pt outline of the flat folder and include lines to represent all the folds, flaps, shaped edges and any business card slots.

For a modest additional cost we can undertake this work for you.
