The
first step is to get the page size right. If for example
the finished size of the job is A4 portrait the page size
needs to be set to exactly 297x210mm. Printing is a precision
business and page sizes need to be set exactly. Click
here for a table of commonly used sizes.
Do not leave the page size as default, this could mean that
you have produced an A5 document on a letter or A4 size
page in which case we would have to adjust the size of every
page before we could impose and output.
If the page size you require is not available, choose custom
and key in the dimensions, also remember to select the correct
orientation of the page to portrait or landscape.
We have specialist imposition software so please do not
try to impose the pages yourself, just supply your document
as single consecutive pages, not in printers pairs, readers
pairs or two A4 pages on an A3 document.
The page size of fold up items such as folders and boxes
need to be set to the sizes of the widest overall dimensions
including glue flaps. For more information see the Product
Guidelines section of this leaflet.
Bleed
To allow for slight variations when trimming the finished
job, 3mm of bleed should be added to all elements meeting
the edge of the page, so that they extend beyond the page
boundary. This is achieved by extending the length or height
of the element or by enlarging or stretching the image slightly.
Please do not change the document page size.
In Microsoft programs this may not be possible so you should
consider changing the design so it can work within the limitations
of the program.
